GRANDPA LASTIE " VINCENT, AGE 97, DIES AT VINTON SURVIVED BY 216 DESCENDANTS -- FUNERAL SERVICE WEDNESDAY IN VINTON Lacking only about two and a half years of reaching the century mark, "Grandpa" Lastie Vincent , died this morning at 2:45 at the home of his son, Amar Vincent, at Vinton, at the age of 97 years, five months, and nine days, survived by 216 descendants, including nine children, 62 grandchildren, 128 great grandchildren, and 17 great great grandchildren. "Grandpa" had been in good health until just a few weeks ago. He was born in Vincent Settlement Feb. 18, 1829. His wife was Miss Oliva Benoit. There were 14 children , nine of whom are living. These are Aladin Vincent, Lake Charles; Mrs Eveline Chesson, Edgerly; Joseph Vincent, Lake Charles; Mrs Simien Duhon of Hackberry; Mrs E C Moss, Low Prairie, La.; Amar Vincent of Vinton; Mrs Delma Perkins, Breckenridge, Texas; Mrs Charles Baden, DeRidder; Mrs Sam Perkins, Lake Charles. A short service will be held at the home of the son, Amar, tomorrow morning at 8 o'clock followed by a service at the Vinton Catholic church, Father LeBero officiating. Interment will be in the Toomey cemetery.
