Private, Co. H, 17th Indiana Infantry. Enlisted February 1, 1862 at Leavenworth, Indiana and discharged at the expiration of term of service, no date given. Crawford county Democrat July 26, 1894 BAD RUNAWAY A Team of horses run over two men near Ed. Riddle'sOne Seriously hurt The engine of a Threasher blew off steam and frightened a team of horses. On Friday the steam threashing machine was at work at Ed Riddle's farm, six miles west of this place, and just as Mr. Riddle's team was driven up the engine blew off steam which frightened the horses. No one was in the wagon at the time and the horses started the full speed up the road toward the Jerico school house. Mr. George Wiseman and his brother Henry were on horseback and were coming to this place and the wild team overtook them in a piece of road where there were gutters on either side and in a manner the men were hemmed in so that they could get out of the way and the team struck them. Mr. George Wiseman sparred his horse, which fell in front of the team, which had already knocked down and run over Henry Wiseman and his horse. Mr. George Wiseman had his leg badly bruised. Henry Wiseman was badly injured, having a collar bone broken, both ears cut and it is feared he is internally injured. He is at this writing very low, but the physicians think the wounds were not fatal.LATER: Mr. Henry Wiseman died at 8:00 Tuesday night from the injuries received. He was fifty-five years of age and a man of considerable means. He was an ex-soldier and a man of many deeds of charity and kindness and possibly there is no man whose death would be more generally regretted than will that of Henry Wiseman. He was married but had no children.
