Hastings resident, Phyllis D. Mohrlang, 85, of the Kensington, died Friday, July 9, 2010 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital. Phyllis was born June 10, 1925 in Hastings, Nebraska, to John & Myrtle (Turner) Richards. She attended Hastings Public Schools. On March 3, 1943 she married Raymond G. Mohrlang. They were married 67 years and he preceded her in death on June 26, 2010. She was a homemaker, devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her home and family were most important to her. Family and friends were always made to feel welcome in her home. Phyllis loved the traditions of birthdays and the holidays. She always baked angel food cake for family birthdays and was famous for her chocolate chip cookies. She sewed jolly pillows for each child born into the family. She enjoyed singing and swinging in the backyard with the grandkids, and always played cards or board games with them. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. She was a collector of salt and pepper shakers. She enjoyed camping and fishing with the family. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raymond G. Mohrlang; infant daughter, Julie Rae Mohrlang; great-granddaughter, Megan Sue Vap; sisters, Gertrude Hlavaty, Marie Smith, and Frances Minich; brothers, Roy Richards, Kenneth Richards, Howard Richards, and Vernon Richards; two infant sisters; and son-in-law, Rollan Vap.
