Son of Edward L. and Agnes (Moravec) Mares. He graduated from Dwight Assumption High School in 1954. Dennis was employed by Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co of Lincoln in 1955 and retired after 35 years of service in 1990. In 1956 Dennis took a military leave from Goodyear and volunteered for duty with the United States Navy and served his entire time aboard the U.S.S. Thetis Bay and had three tours of duty to Japan. He returned from active duty in 1959 and returned to Goodyear. Later that year he met Rose Marie Berniklau and they married April 22, 1961. To this union two sons were born, Daniel Edward and Donald Dennis. Dennis was an avid fisherman and spent most of his spare time fishing and camping. His retirement years were filled with many happy days traveling with his wife in his 5th wheel trailer and fishing from his boat. He had traveled to every state in the United States and fished in most of them. Dennis is survived by his wife of 49 years, Rose Marie, sons, Daniel of Arvada, Co and Donald of Chicago, IL. He is proud grandfather of Courtney Marie and Andrew Edward of Arvada Co. Sisters and Brothers-in-law, Marjorie and Bernie Grossman and Betty and John Sedlak all of Lincoln; Brothers-in-law and Sisters-in-law, Vlad and Mary Margaret Berniklau of Albuquerque NM, George Berniklau of Corpus Christi TX and Ann Berniklau of Lincoln along with nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
