Betty Jean (Mares) Sedlak, of Lincoln, NE, peacefully passed away surrounded by her family on January 24, 2024. She was 82 years old. Betty was born on November 14, 1941, to Agnes (Moravec) and Edward Mares in Dwight, NE. She married her high-school sweetheart, John Sedlak, on May 5, 1962. Together they raised four sons, Dale, David, Ken, and Jim. Betty was a member of North American Martyrs Catholic Church. She was an avid Cornhusker fan, but especially loved being able to support her grandchildren in their various activities. Her passion for flowers was always displayed in a beautiful garden that was overflowing with plants. Betty is survived by her sons, Dale (Nancy), David (Monica), Ken (Sue), and Jim (Mandi); eight grandchildren: Travis, McKenzie, Ashley, Scott (Bree), Zakary, Linus, Wylee, and Diamond; four great-grandchildren: Brooks, Kylar, Eliana, and Issac; her sister Marjorie (Bernie) Grossman. She is preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband John, and her brother Dennis Mares. A visitation with family present will be on Monday, January 29th from 6pm-8pm at Butherus-Maser, & Love Funeral Home, 4040 A St, Lincoln, NE. A rosary will be said in Betty's honor on Tuesday, January 30th at 10:30am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am at North American Martyrs Catholic Church, 1101 Issac Dr., Lincoln, NE. Burial will take place at Lincoln Memorial Park around 2:30pm following a luncheon. The family is requesting any memorials go to Pius X High School.
