JAMES C. BARNETT James C. Barnett, 78, of San Angelo passed away Sunday, March 17, 2002, in a San Angelo hospital. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 21, 2002, in Shaffer Funeral Homes Pioneer Chapel. Burial will follow in the Pioneer Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Massingill, Bill Melton, Gilbert Perez Jr., Wesley Knight, Doug Wallace and Heather Stone. James was born June 2, 1923, in Fordyce, Ark., to Daniel and Rosa Bell Barnett, the youngest of 11 children. He served as an advanced gunners mate for the United States Navy during World War II and was an employee of Barnett Furniture Store. He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Rosa Bell Barnett; one son, Marty Garrett Barnett; five sisters; and four brothers. He is survived by one daughter and husband, Cindy and Gilbert Perez Jr. of San Angelo; one son, Paul Douglas Barnett of San Angelo; one brother, Edward Barnett of San Angelo; five grandchildren, Heather Stone, Whitney and Joshua Barnett, and Chelsea and Joseph Perez; and special friends, Charlotte and Kenneth Massingill. The family would love to express its heartfelt thanks to the staff on the third floor; nurses, Rhonda, Shannon and Elizabeth; respiratory therapist, Angela and Linda Goalsby of SACMC; and Dr. Carmicheal and Dr. French. The family would also like to thank the staff of VistaCare Family Hospice and the Rev. Roger Roumfeld and special friends, Terri Wayham, J.D.
