Funeral service in Norwich is pending. A memorial service will be held at Kavanaugh United Methodist Church in Greenville, Texas. The time of this service is also pending. Mr. Banner was born July 8, 1933 in Smithfield, Texas, the son of B.B. Banner Sr. and Lorraine Bost Banner. He married Elisabeth Popper Sept. 13, 1980 in Durant, Okla. A U.S. Army veteran, Mr. Banner was a petroleum engineer who had worked extensively in Kuwait, Nigeria, Libya and Indonesia. He was a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin and a member of Alamo Heights Methodist Church in San Antonio. Surviving are his wife of Norwich, Eng.; parents of Greenville; sons, Barrette Butler Banner and Danen Ray Banner, both of San Antonio; stepson, Frank Whitehouse of England; daughter, Valerie Ann Banner of Dallas; brother, Paul Banner of Greenville; and sister, the Rev. Louise Welch of Greenville. A sister, Jeanne Banner Peek, preceded him in death. The family requests that memorials be made to United Metehodist Church Overseas Relief (UMCOR).
