Banner) Funeral services for longtime businessman, Beverly Barrett “B.B.” Banner, 90, will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at Peters Funeral Home Chapel. A Knights of Pythias representative and Rev. Ben Shinn will officiate. Burial will be at Forest Park Cemetery. Banner died Thursday morning at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville. Banner was a retired real estate developer whose accomplishments included Rolling Hills Addition in Greenville and the construction and operation of Caddo Fishing Barge at Lake Tawakoni and he was involved in oil exploration for many years. After he was knighted for his contributions to the Knights of Pythias Order, the local lodge was named in honor of him. The son of Earnest Bitting Banner and Emma D. Smith, he was born Feb. 20, 1904, in Fort Worth. He married Ella Lorraine Bost on Nov. 4, 1925. The couple were married 62 years before her death in 1988. He was also preceded in death by a son, B.B. Banner Jr. and daughter, Jeanne Peek. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Judith Banner, and daughter, Rev. Louise Welch, all of Greenville; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. Family will receive visitors at Peters Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Pallbearers include Staff Sgt. Gregory Berry, Tim Schomp, Dr. Brian Spore, Scott Dykes, Clyde Dykes, Robert Grubbs, John Banner, Richard Sumrow and James Adcock.
