Published in the Athens Review June 24, 1948 Funeral services for E.S. Christopher, who died in the home of a son, C.E. Christopher at Stanton Thursday night at 8 o'clock after a brief illness were held Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the New York church. The services were conducted by Rev. Diterline of LaRue, and interment was in the New York Cemetery. Grandsons were pallbearers. The Hassell & Foster funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Christopher was born on July 3, 1851, in Alabama. He was a retired farmer. He made his home with a daughter, Mrs. J.F. Godwin, at LaRue before moving to Stanton last October. Mrs. Christopher died in LaRue in 1932 and was buried in the New York Cemetery. Surviving are two sons, C.E. Christopher of Stanton and N.A. Christopher of Dallas; four daughters, Mrs. Emma Wilson of Odessa, Mrs. Pearl Alderman of Colorado City, Mrs. C.H. Melton of Blooming Grove, and Mrs. J.F. Godwin of LaRue; 44 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren.
