Bio

Denise L. Berkey, 36, died at her parents home in Molalla on Dec. 12. She was born in Silverton on Dec. 29, 1953, to Richard and Alice Berkey. She graduated from high school at North Marion in 1972, and from Western Oregon State College in 1977. She had spent two years in Akron, Pennsylvania. She was a secretary for the Oregon Department of Education and worked at MacLaren School in Woodburn. She is survived by her parents, Richard and Alice Berkey of Molalla; two brothers, Aaron M. Berkey of Tualatin and Douglas Berkey of Canby; and one sister, Pamela Camp of Bellevue, Wash. Berkey was a member of Calvary Mennonite Church in Aurora. She had done volunteer work for the Mennonite Central Committee in Akron while living there. Memorials in her named may be made to the Mennonite Central Committee in care of the church. Funeral services were held Dec. 16 at Calvary Mennonite Church in Aurora. Private burial was at Zion Mennonite Cemetery in Hubbard. Cornwell Colonial Chapel in Woodburn was in care of arrangements.
