Phil Allen Stanley (1921-2010) Phil Allen Stanley, 89, of Apalachicola, Fla., passed away June 30, 2010, in Panama City, Fla. He was born Feb. 15, 1921, to the late Levi and Agnes Stanley in Blakely, Ga. He moved to Apalachicola from Birmingham, Ala., in the early 1940s and retired from the State of Florida department of natural resources. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and American Legion Post 106. Mr. Stanley was preceded in death by his first wife of 46 years, Martha Martina Stanley. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Zelda Mosconis Stanley of Apalachicola; four sons, Michael Stanley (Barbara) of Panama City, Fla., Stephen Stanley (Bertha), Tracy Stanley (Edna), Travis Stanley (Tiffany) of Apalachicola, Fla.; two daughters, Phyllis Svrcek (Sonny) of Houston, Texas, Paula Stanley of Apalachicola, Fla.; his sister, Goldi Sanford (James) of Alexander City, Ala.; eleven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. The family would like to express a special thanks to Covenant Hospice and Community Health and Rehabilitation Center in Panama City, Fla. A funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 6, 2010, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Apalachicola, Fla., with Father Roger Latsynski and interment to follow in Magnolia Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Hatch Wefing, Nathan Donahoe, Brad Stanley, Levi Stanley, Luke Stanley and Jeremy Stanley. The family will receive friends Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Covenant Hospice, 107 W. 19th Street, Panama City, Fla., in the name of Phil Stanley.
