Husband of Ethel Belle Price. Son of John Perry Thomas and Margaret Ann Jones. OBITUARY THE CHARITON HERALD-PATRIOT Chariton, Iowa Thursday, October 3, 1974 THOMAS - Tom Thomas, son of John and Margaret Thomas, was born in Lucas on June 1, 1900, and passed away at Lucas County Memorial Hospital, on Friday evening, September 20, 1974, at the age of 74 years, 3 months and 19 days. He was a resident of Chariton for most of his life, with the exception of a number of years in Des Moines, and more recently in Hemingford, Nebr. He was married to Ethel B. Price on March 22, 1923, a partnership that lasted 52 years. This union was blessed with three children Betty Jeane, Tom Jr., and Patricia Ann. He was a lifetime member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Betty Jeane; his parents; two brothers, and three sisters. Surviving are his wife, Ethel of Chariton; his son, Tom Jr. and wife Ruth of Des Moines; his daughter, Patricia Ann and husband, George Chandler of Houston, Tex.; four grandchildren: Cynthia L. Sears; Tom Thomas III; Gary Ray and Pamela Chandler; a brother, Reece Thomas of Chariton; and three sisters; Mary Anderson of Kansas City, Mo.; Jeanette Champlin of Independence, Mo.; and Margaret Cloonan of Nashville, Tenn. He will be missed by all his relatives and many friends. Funeral services were conducted by Elder Raymond Stiles assisted by Elder Joe Smith, at 2:00 p.m., Monday, September 23, at the Fielding Funeral Home. Burial was in the Chariton Cemetery.
