Son of Joshua Gore and Miltilda Temperance Starnes Gore. Born Union City, Union Co, NC. Died Anderson County, Texas. Charity Savilla Welborn married William Gore on 17 June 1855 at Anderson County, South Carolina. Mrs. H. M. Hinzie is a daughter of the late W. G. and Charity Gore, a prominent family from South Carolina, originally, who arrived in Texas part of a thirty-wagon train in 1873. They settled in Brushy Creek. Charles Murphy, grandfather of Mrs. Sims Colley, a resident, named the place "Brushy Creek" in honor of the old home in South Carolina (The Celys and Murphys, friends and neighbors in south Carolina, came about the same time). Mr. Gore was one of Anderson County's popular "old" violinists. [Hohes, Pauline Buck. "A Centennial History of Anderson County, Texas" San Antonio, Tex.: Naylor Co., 1936]
