HAUGEN, Arthur 1911-1985 Funeral services were held on Thursday, June 20, 1985, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Osage, for retired Osage area farmer, Arthur Haugen, 73, who died on Monday, June 17, 1985, at the Mitchell County Memorial Hospital. The Rev. J. Nesheim officiated. Burial was in the Rock Creek Lutheran Cemetery of rural Osage. Mr. Haugen was born on July 3, 1911, in rural Osage, Iowa, to O.K. and Lydia (Maakestad) Haugen. He attended rural schools in Cedar Township, Mtichell County and graduated from Osage High School in 1929. On September 2, 1937, he and Dorothy Durant were united in marriage at Nora Springs. They farmed in rural Osage until 1968 and then moved into Osage. He was preceded in death by three sisters, one brother and his parents. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; two daughters, Mrs. Vernon (Janice) Larson of Augusta, Georgia, and Marilyn Haugen of Alexandria, Virginia; three sons: Dr. David Haugen of Cheeney, Washington, James Haugen of Mesa, Arizona, and Bruce Haugen of Clarksville, Tennessee; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; three sisters: Mrs. Norma Lekwa of Ackley, Evelyn Oldenburg of Rock Rapids and Margaret Walter of Lehigh Acres, Florida, and one brother, Ernest of Osage.
