Bio

Mrs. Bessie Elder, 80, of Sullivan died at 12: 02 p.m. Monday in St. Mary's Hospital, Decatur. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday in McMullin Funeral home, Sullivan, with burial in Greenhill Cemetery, Sullivan. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Mrs. Elder was born in Bethany, the daughter of Wilse and Delia Gustin. She married John H. Bolin in 1913. He died in 1951. She later married William S. Elder in 1958. He died in 1960. Surviving are two sons, Rex and Don Bolin, both of Sullivan; one daughter, Mrs. Donald (Fern) McKown of Sullivan; one stepson, William E. Elder of Sullivan; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Olive McColl of Wichita, Kan.; one sister, Mrs. Essie Rhodes of Sullivan; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. One brother and one sister preceded her in death. She was a member of Jonathan Creek Christian Church, the Moultrie County Historial Society, Moultrie County Home Bureau and the Ladies Aid Society of the church.
