Services for James Newton Baker, 61, were held at First United Methodist Church officiated by Rev. Jay Beavers, the pastor and assisted by Rev. Rick Erwin, pastor of First Baptist Church. James Newton Baker married Vesta Johnson in 1947 at Olney, Texas. Mrs. Baker was a clerk and a musician. He was a member of the Methodist church. He had lived in Olney for 45 years and a few years in Amarillo. Survived by his wife; two sons - Jimmie Baker and Freddie Baker; three sisters - Mrs. Roger Porter, Mrs. O.V. Hampton, Mrs. Quentin Hunt; one brother - Robert Baker; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
