Alonzo Ernest Empey was born to Ephraim Shadrack Empey and Sarah Ann Rhodes on March 28, 1880 in Lehi, Utah County, Utah. His brothers and sisters are Sarah Ann (Molen), Ephraim Elias, Elsie Elizabeth (Tracy), Alfred Burton, Martin Lester, Alva Marcellus, Pearl Lorena (Peterson), Ray Shadrach, Homer Rhodea, and Edna May (Woolf). When he was 8 years old he traveled to Idaho with his family and settled near Eagle Rock, Bingham County, Idaho, now Idaho Falls, Bonneville County, Idaho. The family then moved to a homestead just south of Ammon, Bonneville County, Idaho. Ernest married Olive Adaline Mitchell on December 7, 1904 in St. Anthony, Fremont County, Idaho. They lived in Ammon. Born Ernest and Olive are nine children of which eight grew to adulthood. Born to them are Worth Alonzo, Norma Adaline (Faust), Rulon Elias, Twila (Suitter), Leah (Molen/Coughlan), Sheldon Ephraim, Ferron James, Melvin Mitchell and Lois (Shelton).
