Services for G.W. Pharr, 83, of Lubbock will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2005, at Sanders Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Keith Wiseman officiating. Interment will be in Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park in Woodrow under the direction of Sanders Funeral Home. He died Monday, April 11, at his residence. G.W. Pharr was born April 27, 1921 in Chillicothe, to John Virgil and Carrie Mae Pharr. He married Ida Pearl Bullock Sept. 11, 1942 and they have been married for 63 years. He served as a sergeant in the military police, for the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II from 1942 to 1946. Mr. Pharr was self-employed until his retirement as a service station operator in Lubbock. As the youngest of 13 children, he is survived by his wife, Ida B. Pharr of Lubbock; his son, Don Pharr and his wife Sharlett of Granbury; his sister, Grace Schell of California; his brother, Leon Pharr of Kingsland; three grandsons, Eric Donald and Landon Thomas Pharr, of Lubbock and Jacob Pharr of Al buquerque, N.M.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be Raymond Bullock, Rick Venable, Bob Venable, John Wolfe, John Barnett, Ken Neher, Mark Stephenson, Bruce Stephenson, Davis Plunkett, Amos Peres, Jim Slagle, Eric Pharr and Landon Pharr.
