Wenatchee World - Sunday, June 13, 2010 Emil J. Adamek, 86, an East Wenatchee resident, passed away on June 8, 2010, at Central Washington Hospital. He was born on March 18, 1924, to William J. Adamek and Rose M. (Novosad) Adamek in Ord, NE. He attended Elm Creek Country School. On May 9, 1945, he married Jessie V. Michalski in Elyria, NE. They resided on the Adamek family farm in Ord, NE until 1956, when the family moved to Washington State. He worked as a Carpenter Superintendent at numerous construction projects in the Northwest during a 30 year career with Morrison-Knudsen Construction Company. He was a longtime member of the Wenatchee Men's Bowling Association. Besides being an avid bowler, his hobbies included fishing, hunting, woodworking and working in his yard. He also was a big fan of the Seattle Mariners. He was a 53 year member of the Carpenter's Union. He was also a member of Holy Apostles Catholic Church in East Wenatchee and had an honorary life membership in the Knights of Columbus. On May 9, 2010, Emil and Jessie celebrated their 65th Wedding Anniversary with a family celebration. He is survived by his wife, Jessie V. Adamek of East Wenatchee; his daughter, Marlane Gurnard of East Wenatchee; son, Alan (Colleen) Adamek of Wenatchee; daughter, Sandra (Rob) Payne of Olympia; and daughter, Lauri (Mark) Youso of Libby, MT; nine grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren; sisters, Evelyn Hoop of Coeur d'Alene, ID and Amelia (Harley) Eschliman of Grand Junction, CO; one brother, Don (Dee) Adamek of Grand Junction, CO; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Rosalie Ronzzo and Lydia Sedlacek; brother, Ed Adamek; and son-in-law, Larry Gurnard. A Rosary will be recited at Telford's Chapel of the Valley on Sunday, June 13, 2010, at 6:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at Holy Apostles Catholic Church on Monday, June 14, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. Concluding Services and Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Cancer Care of NCW or the American Heart Association. Arrangements are by Telford's Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee.
