Bio

He was the son of Andrew Jackson Cannon and Malinda Sawyer. He married Sarah Frances Brooks c. 1873. They were the parents of five children: Thomas Herschel Cannon, Virgil Simpson Cannon, Owen LaFayette Cannon, James A. Cannon, and George Washington Cannon, Jr. After G. W. died during the diphtheria epidemic in Huntsville, Madison Co., AR his widow, Sarah F. Cannon, remarried c. 1884 to J. C. "Jessie" Ghormley at Huntsville, Madison County, Arkansas. Sarah Frances Brooks Cannon Ghormley died 04 October 1932 and is buried in Park Grove Cemetery, Broken Arrow, Tulsa Co., OK.
