Nancy was the daughter of William Webster Hawthorne 3rd and Mary E Anderson. .............. Extracted from The Victoria Advocate (Victoria, TX) Sunday, May 6, 1956 Mrs. Nancy McFaddin Mrs. Nancy Jane McFaddin, 86, of Santo, Texas, mother of 10 children including Mrs. J. L. Fulbright of 909 Mistletoe, died at 5 a.m. Saturday at a local hospital. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday afternoon under direction of McCabe-Carruth Funeral Home, with burial at the Gordon, Texas, cemetery. A lifelong resident of Texas and a member of the Baptist Church, Mrs. McFaddin had been visiting Mrs. Fulbright for a month when death occurred. Surviving besides Mrs. Fulbright are five sons, Rome and Van B. Thrailkill and Robert O. McFaddin of Gordon; Oscar Thrailkill of Lubbock and Bert Thrailkill of Arkansas; four other daughters, Mrs. R. C. Stephens of Houston, Mrs. L. R. Haney of San Angelo, Mrs. W. B. Robbins of Santo and Mrs. Thurber Hair of Oklahoma; 30 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. ................ Nancy 1st married Stephen Isaac Thrailkill on April 9, 1886 in Kaufman County, TX. They had 6 children: James Oscar, Van Buren, Rhoda, Bert, Rome and Tennie Mae (wife of Leslie Reeves Haney). No tombstone for Stephen Thrailkill has been located to date, but he died about 1902-1903. She 2nd married John Pennington McFaddin on June 12, 1905 in Palo Pinto, Texas. Nancy's death certificate listed her name spelled as McFaddin instead of McFadden as on the tombstone. They had (4) children: one son, Robert Owen "Dugan," and daughters Roxie Mary, Georgia Lee and Opal Ollie. The children spelled the name McFaddin according to death records (Opal's gravestone has "McFadden" - but her death certificate has McFaddin). Her 2nd husband spelled the name McFadin (information courtesy Kelly K.) See John Pennington "McFadin" tombstone in, ironically, "McFaddin Cemetery" in Gordon, Pala Pinto, Texas. Census spell it both ways - and McFadden. Civil War records for him has it McFadin and McFaddin. His Texas death certificate and gravestone has it "McFadin." The 1910 census has them as "McFadden." He was much older than Nancy, but he fathered (4) children in his 60's with her. He had several other children by previous marriages as well. Nancy died at DeTar Hospital in Victoria, Texas - but her permanent residence listed on her TX death certificate was Santo, Palo Pinto, Texas. Daughter Georgia Lee (McFaddin) Fulbright lived in Victoria and was the informant for Nancy's TX death certificate.
