JOAN MARIE AGNES BERG BECKER Dec. 13, 1920 - Jun. 5, 2010 INDEPENDENCE - Joan Marie Agnes Berg Becker of Independence, Oregon passed away June 5, 2010. She was born December 13, 1920 in Cornlea, Nebraska to Guido C. Berg and Rose M. Weidner Berg. She was the oldest of four children, all daughters. She was schooled in Overton, Nebraska. She was married to JAY HARMON BECKER Jr. on May 4, 1939 in Elm Creek, Nebraska. He passed away February 6, 1982. Son, Jay III was born in Nebraska and shortly after, all moved to Shaw, Oregon. Four children were born in Oregon. Joan and Jay lived for a while in Yakima and Sequim, Washington. Joan worked several jobs but mostly in the banking industry and medical transcription. She enjoyed sewing, playing the organ and guitar, painting and working on crossword puzzles until losing her sight to Macular Degeneration. Her parents, husband, grandson and three sisters predeceased her. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Jay III and Marilyn Becker of Troutdale, Oregon, Janice Becker of Pampa, Texas, Joel and Joyce Becker of Spokane, Washington, Jacqueline and Marv Ford of Monmouth, Oregon, Jennifer Boling of Olympia, Washington; 15 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m., Saturday, June 12, 2010 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Independence, Oregon with committal service following at Fir Crest Cemetery in Monmouth, Oregon.
