Bio

We, the undersigned Resolution Committee, in behalf of the membership of Lodge No. 103 Flatonia, Texas, extend our deepest sympathy to the family of our departed brother, FRANK ZOUZALIK, SR. who passed away December 29, 1972 in Flatonia Convalescent Home, at the age of 95 years and 5 months. Funeral services were held Saturday, December 30 at 10 a.m. from the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Flatonia, where Holy Mass was celebrated by Father Anthony Matula. Interment followed in the Holy Rosary Garden of the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Flatonia. Born July 29, 1877 in Vienna, Austria, Brother Zouzalik completed his schooling, learned a trade as a bricklayer, served in the army and at the age of 25, decided to come to Texas. Shortly after his arrival in Flatonia, in 1902, he met and married Cecilia Kocian Barcak who preceded him in death in 1942. To this union seven children were born. Surviving him are his wife, Mrs. Frank Zouzalik, Sr., the former Mary GenzerKrenek, of Flatonia, whom he married in 1951; three sons, Edward H. Zouzalik and Frank J. Zouzalik, both of Flatonia, Albert Zouzalik of San Antonio; two daughters, Mrs. Byron (Millie) Elder of Portland, and Mrs. Roy (Agnes) Bunton of San Antonio. Preceding him in death were a son, Emil, in infancy, and a daughter, Mrs. Rudy (Annie) Albrecht in 1968. Other survivors include a step-daughter, Mrs. Lillie Syrinek; and step-son, Julius Bacak, both of Flatonia; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Zouzalik was a member of the Catholic Church and a charter member of the SPJST Lodge No. 103, Flatonia. Many structures in Flatonia and the surrounding community still have brick work performed by him during his working days. May our departed brother rest in eternal peace.
