"Maude Evelyn Gray Slater was the 5th child born out of the 6 children of her parents, William Sherman Gray and Sarah Jane Jacobs Gray in Illinois. The Gray family was from Sumner, Lawrence Co., Illinois and the Jacobs family was from Murphysboro, Jackson Co., Illinois. The Grays and the Jacobs were very close families as a brother and a sister of the Jacobs married a sister and a brother of the Grays."
