Bio

Mary Louise (Komenda) White, daughter of Joseph and Pauline (Liskovec) Komenda, was born in Dwight, Nebraska, on October 14, 1896, and passed away March 17, 1988, in the Brodstone Memorial Hospital in Superior at the age of 91 years, 5 months and 3 days. She was baptized November 1, 1896, by Rev. Klein in Holy Trinity Church at Brainard, Nebraska. She attended schools in Dwight and later received her normal training and taught school for many years. On November 25, 1920, in Mankato, Kansas, she was married to Thomas E. White. They spent their entire married life in Superior. Tom passed away March 1, 1976. She was a caring, benevolent person, having given to many of Superior's less fortunate as well as having an open door to transients for food. She took care of her husband, Tom, in his later years as well as her sister, Alice. She was an animal lover and contribute time as well as financial support in that area, both locally and nationally. She is survived by one son, Duane Eldon White of Las Vegas, Nevada; a sister, Bertha Komenda of Yucca Valley, California; two grandchildren, Duane Ellis White of Bellevue, Nebraska and Aimee Louise White of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Graveside services were held Monday, March 12, 1988, from the Evergreen Cemetery with Pastor Phil Thomas officiating. Megrue-Price Funeral Home of Superior, Nebraska, was in charge of the arrangements. The Nelson Gazette, Thursday, March 24, 1988; pg. 7
