Many hearts were saddened and grieved when it became known early Tuesday morning, January 21, 1964 that Frank Glomb had passed away at his home at 4:00 a.m. He had reached the age of 76 years, 2 months and 13 days. The body rested in state at the Buffington Funeral Home, Shiner, where brief services were held Thursday, January 23 at 10:15 a.m. and continued with Requiem High Mass at 10:30 a.m. at Saints Cyril and Methodius’ Catholic Church. The Father John Hanacek officiated at the last rites. Burial followed in the Shiner Catholic Cemetery. Casket attendants were Steven Glomb, Ed. Kolar of Shiner; Edward and David Marek of San Antonio; Dr. Manuel Chavez of Houston and Edwin Glomb of Corpus Christi. Rosary was recited at the Buffington Chapel, Wednesday, January 22 at 7:00 p.m. led by Father John Hanacek. Mr. Glomb was born near Shiner November 8, 1887 the son of the late Frank J. and Annie (Lanca) Glomb. He was married to Mathilda Effenberger on November 8, 1910 here and they continuously made their home on a farm near Shiner. He was a member of the Shiner Catholic Church and the S.P.J.S.T. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Frank (Mathilda) Glomb of Route 3, Shiner; one son, Oscar Glomb of Shiner; four daughters, Miss Edith Glomb of Shiner; Mrs. Ed. (Selma) Sefcfik of El Campo; Mrs. E.J. (Isabele) Marek and Mrs. J.D. (Lorene) Marek, both of San Antonio; one brother, Ed. Glomb of Van Nuys, California; one half-brother, Emil Vinklarek of Lubbock; five sisters, Mrs. John (Pauline) Kokas of Shiner; Mrs. Ed. (Mary) Jaks of El Campo; Mrs. Louis ( Frances) Vrazel of Corpus Christi; Mrs. Gussie Lumpkin and Miss Emily Glomb, both of San Antonio; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Preceding him to the grave besides his parents, Frank J. Glomb and Mrs. Annie Glomb Vinklarek, were two sons who died in infancy; two brothers, Louis and Joe Glomb and two sisters, Mrs. John J. (Agnes) Mikes, who died March 12, 1937 and Mrs. Pete Vrazel in 1929. May those who held him near and dear be sustained in their hour of separation and farewell and may the Holy Comforter breathe into their hearts peace and cheerful resignation.
