Victoria Advocate, November 6, 2003 Edith Kasparek Caka passed away during the morning of November 4, 2003. Edith was born on November 14, 1921 to Alois Kasparek and Frances Hybner and was one of thirteen children. Her childhood home was located near Shiner, Texas in the Midway Community. She attended school at Lone Tree and in 1941 married Ben Caka. They made Corpus Christi their home for many years. After Ben's death, on February 24, 1977 Edith moved to San Antonio and lived with her sister, Louise Raindl. During the 24 years Edith lived in San Antonio she was a tireless contributing member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church. Edith's efforts in organizing and participating in fund raising events such as bake sales, raffles and church festivals earned her the gratitude of the parishioners and made her known and loved by many. She is survived by her sisters, Louise Raindl of San Antonio, Janie Brosh and Judy Vanderslice of Shiner, Texas, Olga Kusak of New Braunfels and Marion Peterek of Corpus Christi and her brothers Clement Kasparek and Louis Kasparek of Corpus Christi. She will be fondly remembered by her numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Alois and Frances Kasparek, her husband, Ben Caka, two sisters, Frances Kurtz and Ella Vrazel and three brothers, Stanley Kasparek, Rudy Kasparek and Domin Kasparek. A Rosary will be recited Wednesday, November 5, 2003 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Thomas More Catholic Church and Thursday, November 6, 2003 at Buffington Funeral Home in Shiner. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 7, 2003 at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Shiner with burial to follow at the Shiner Catholic Cemetery.
