Athens Weekly Review, Thurs. 30 Oct 1947 - Mr. Champion dies Friday at Bethel, Funeral Saturday - T. W. Champion, member of a pioneer Henderson County family, died Friday afternoon at 4 pm at his home near Bethel after an illness of several weeks. He was born on 9 Aug 1864 in Polk Co., TX, the son of the late Mr. Mrs. R. G. Champion. The family moved to Henderson Co., when he was one year of age and acquired extensive property holdings in the Opelika area. Mr. Champion, a farmer, was married to Miss Maggie O'Quinn in the county in 1896. She died in 1937. He had been a member of the Christian Church for many years. Survivors: 7 nieces & nephews, Miss May Champion-Athens, Mrs. Dozie Dingler-Poynor, Mrs. Joe Young-LaRue, Mrs. Beulah Oliver-Waco, Jim Bob Gauntt-LaRue & Robert Jerrell (sic-Jarrell)-Dallas.
