Shiner Gazette, 4 Jul 1906 Death of Leo Valenta. Leo Valenta, senior member of the firm of Valenta Bros., died at his home Thursday morning. He was an honorable, upright and highly respected citizen whose death has cast a gloom over our little town of which he has made his home for a number of years. His remains were consigned to their last resting place in the Catholic cemetery Friday morning. He leaves a wife and two children. We extend to them our heartfelt sympathy. Mr. Valenta carried $5500 insurance as follows: Mutual $2000; American Life Insurance Co. $2500 and the S. P. J. S. T. Lodge $1000. The funeral services were held Friday at Sweet Home, Father Benes officiating, and was largely attended by friends and acquaintances. – Halletsville Herald.
