Victoria Advocate May 3, 2003 Moravia - Mildred Fertsch Blahuta, 83, of Moravia, died Friday, May 2, 2003. She was born Oct. 25, 1919, in Lavaca County, to the late Adolph and Ida B. Schaefer Fertsch. She was retired from Bill's Dollar Store and was co-proprietor of Blahuta Store in Moravia. She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Hallettsville, the SPJST Lodge No. 23 of Moravia, Order of the Sons of Hermann, Ladies Auxiliary VFW and American Legion Auxiliary. She was a member of German Society and Moravia Home Demonstration Organization. Survivors: daughter, Arlene Schwartz of Austin; sons, Guthrie Blahuta Jr. of Hallettsville and Glenn Blahuta of Austin; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by: husband, Guthrie V. Blahuta Sr.; son, Patrick John Blahuta; parents; sister, Lorene Overgoner; and grandson, Scott Joseph Blahuta. Visitation will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Kubena Funeral Home chapel. A prayer service will be 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home chapel. Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Hallettsville, the Rev. Herb Beyer officiating. Burial will be at Moravia Catholic Cemetery.
