S/Sgt. William G. Morris, son of Mrs. Shelby L. Morris, Bastrop. Husband of Evelyn Brodnax. Graduate of Wilmot, Arkansas, High School. Entered Army in 1942, trained in Ft. Mead, Maryland. Served in ETO. Awarded Victory Ribbons and Good Conduct Ribbon. Discharged in 1945." - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Bastrop Daily Enterprise (Bastrop, Louisiana) Thursday - 20 August 1942 Front Page PFC. GLENN MORRIS, who is stationed at Fort George G. Meade, Maryland, has been spending a 10 day furlough with his mother, Emma Lucille Sawyer Morris (Mrs. Shelby L. Morris) of this city. Pfc. Morris was given his furlough as a first prize for making the highest score on the rifle range. Glen Morris, son of Emma Lucille Sawyer Morris (Mrs. Shelby L. Morris) and sister of Reatagae Mayeaux Morris (Mrs. Evans Larkin), both of Bastrop, has sent his sister a Nazi battle flag, which he captured in Belgium. The flag is a large one some eight or ten feet long, red in color with a big swastika in the center on a field of white. The flag will well made, and in good condition. S-Sgt.. Glenn Morris has sent a nimber of other souvenirs home - helmets, caps and German ribbons and decorations of various sorts.
