Bio

Funeral services for Henry Franssen, 47, were held at the St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Hazard, Tuesday morning, November 9 by the Rev. J. E. McSweeney of Pleasanton NE. Rosary was recited Monday evening at the Steele Funeral Chapel in Litchfield NE. Burial was in the Litchfield Cemetery. Pallbearers were five nephews, Leland, Bill and Terry Teahan, Gene Gracey and Johnny Brewer, and Ray Lewandowski. Mr. Franssen died Saturday, November 6 at the Sacred Heart Hospital in Loup City NE after a lingering illness of two years. He was born at St. Libory NE November 28, 1906 to John and Anna (Kuiper) Franssen. He received his schooling at St. Libory, then moved with his parents to Broken Bow NE in the Spring of 1920. On May 12, 1938 he was married to Grace Horton at Broken Bow. To this union was born a daughter. The Franssens spent their entire married life farming in the Litchfield community. Survivors include his wife, Grace and daughter, Patricia, at home; his mother, Mrs. Anna Franssen of Derby CO; six brothers, William of Portland OR, Herman of Boelus NE, John of Golden CO, Bernard of Brady NE, Joseph of Denver CO, Leo of Potter NE; and five sisters, Mrs. Martha Olsen of Golden CO, Mrs. Anna Bates of North Freedom WI, Mrs. Sena Lang of Litchfield, Mrs. Clara Teahon of Anselmo NE, and Mrs. Dorothy Anthoney of Derby CO. His mother and all brothers and sisters except William and Joseph, attended the funeral.
