W. Harley Davis, 70, of Pelican Rapids, died Wednesday, March 28, 2001, at his home. He was born the son of Walter and Alice (Fletcher) Davis on July 27, 1930, in Lida Township, rural Pelican Rapids. He attended school in Minnesota and Washington State. At the age of seventeen, he enlisted in to the United State Navy and continued his education at various military and civilian schools and colleges. As an adult, he was baptized in The Submarine Base Chapel at Pearl Harbor. He was united in marriage to Lorraine E. Fick on April 26, 1951, in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church-Loon Lake, subsequently joining the LCMS in Honolulu following his adult confirmation. He was the recipient of numerous ribbons, medals and commendations during his more than 20 years of service. Following his military service, he worked as Public Works Director at Frazee and Barnesville. After his retirement in 1985, he and his wife made their home on Lake Lida, near Pelican Rapids. He served in numerous elective and appointed offices at church, school district, township, county and state levels. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Dellen and Dallas "Bud", two sisters, Maxine Rice and Lillian Anderson. He is survived by his wife, Lorraine of Pelican Rapids; three daughters, Sheryl (Jim) Blaine of Frazee, Sandra Davis of Del Ray Beach, Fla. and Sharon (Greg) Meyer of Dent. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Tracy Blaine, Eric (Trisha) Issendorf, Tyler Blaine, Stephanie Issendorf, Dustin Meyer and Samantha Meyer. Visitation: 5-8 p.m. Friday in the Furey Funeral Home, Vergas, and one hour prior to the service at the church Service: 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church-Loon Lake Clergy: Rev.
