Daughter of Louis & May (Knudsen) Bernholtz. Graduated from Page High School, 1928. Attended Wayne State College; graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, 1937, with degrees in English and speech. Taught in Nebraska schools for seven years; was a producer-director for the National Producing Co. in Kansas City. Military: joined the U.S. Coast Guard, 1943; was a recruiting officer in New York, South Carolina, Florida and Georgia until she went on inactive duty in 1946. Married: July 19, 1948, to Leonard Silver in O'Neill. Her husband died May 5, 1991. Activities: member of the church, St. James Altar Society, the American Association of University Women, the League of Women Voters, Fort Kearney Rock Club, Big Bend Audubon Society and Mid-Nebraska Women Veterans. Enjoyed reading, gardening, collecting rocks, bird watching and spending time with family. Survivors include: son, Gordon of Colorado Springs, Colo.; daughter, Mary Osterbuhr of Odessa, Texas; sister, Bonnie Bernholtz of Kearney; and a granddaughter. Preceded in death by her husband and an infant son.
