Leslie Hawthorne Shepperd, 85 of Comstock died Thurs. August 4, 2005 ay the Jennie Melham Medical Center in Broken Bow, Nebraska. Mr. Shepperd was born September 20, 1919 at Valley County, Nebraska to Leslie H and Rebecca K. (Hill) Shepperd. He received his education at rural Valley County Schools and was a graduate of Comstock High School. He farmed in Valley and Custer counties until 1942, In 1942, he joined the United States Army serving for four years overseas during World War II. After the service, in 1946 he returned to farming. On Jan 7, 1950 he married Helen May Thompson at Reedsburg, WI. The couple made their home on a farm one mile west of Comstock. His wife died on Oct. 6, 1994 and he continued to make his home on te farm near Comstock until his death. Mr. Shepperd was member of the Wescott Baptist Church: and served on te Middle Loup Irrigation Board for many years. His favorite pastime was farming. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Jennifer Shepperd of Comstock one daughter and son-in-law Alice and Robert Sullivan of Omaha: six grandchildren; and one sister, Virginia Marsh of Arizona. He is preceded in death by his wife, a brother George Shepperd and a sister Doris Maresh.
