Florian Pelster, 82, of Kearney died Thursday, April 22, 2010, at Good Samaritan Hospital. He was born Oct. 21, 1927, in Elgin to John and Veronica (Buddecke) Pelster. On Aug. 19, 1947, he married Joy Hawks in Long Pine. She preceded him in death. Survivors are: his children, Beverly Walton of Kearney, John Pelster and his wife, Debra, of Burwell, La Vern Pelster and his wife, Echo, of North Platte, Suzanne Cheeks and her husband, Doug, of Midland, Texas, and Karla Hehnke and her husband, Jim, of Ravenna; 16 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Lucille Jillson of Lincoln; sisters-in-law, Alfreda Pelster, Mildred Pelster, Bessie Hawks and Marilyn Krause; brother-in-law, Orland Krause; nieces, nephews and a host of friends and relatives.. He graduated from Elgin High School in 1945. He received his auctioneering degree in fall 1947. He farmed, raised cattle and had a dairy in addition to auctioneering. In 1979, the family moved to Loup City, where he was a hog buyer. They retired to Kearney in May 1995, and he moved to Mother Hull Home in 2007. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Diane; his parents; brothers, Raymond, Wilfred, Maynard, La Vern, Phillip and Jerome; sisters, Irene Moser, Laura Speiker, Esther and infant twins; and an infant grandson.
