Sharon Lynne VanNote, 70, of LeClaire, Iowa, formerly of Pekin, passed away Sunday, May 9, 2010, at University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa. Born Dec. 28, 1939, in Springfield to Oran C. and Ottillie P. (Sherer) Upchurch, she married Donald E. Murphy on April 25, 1959, in Pekin. He died Feb. 6, 1987, in Pekin. She later married John Timothy VanNote on Oct. 25, 2008, in Pekin. He survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Rene (Timothy) Courter of Galesburg and Rhonda (Arl) Snyder of Pekin; one son, Michael Murphy of Bogota, Colombia; one brother, Ronald (Hermene) Upchurch of Pekin; and one sister-in-law, Dorothy Murphy. She was preceded in death by her parents. She worked for the Tazewell County Farm Bureau as a bookkeeper for over 29 years, retiring in April 2005. Entombment will be in the Glendale Memory Gardens Mausoleum in Pekin. Full obit in the Peoria Journal Star - May 12, 2010.
