Bio

Kearney resident, 71. Viola M. Lux, 71, of 1817 Ave. I in Kearney, died Thursday, Sept. 29, 1994, at Good Samaritan Hospital where she had been a patient for the past two days. Services will be at 9 p.m. Tuesday at Faith United Methodist Church in Kearney with the Rev. C.J. Willis officiating. Burial will be in the Kearney Cemetery. Visitation will be noon-8:30 p.m. Monday and 8:30 a.m.-noon Tuesday at Horner-Lieske-Horner Mortuary in Kearney and prior to services at the church. She was born Dec. 16, 1922, in Poole to Ralph A. and Merle F. (Young) Fester. She graduated from Ravenna High School in 1941. On Feb. 11, 1946, she married Dale G. Lux in Valentine. They lived in various locations while he worked for the military. The couple moved to Kearney in 1964. She worked as a seamstress and saleswoman for the Singer Store in Kearney from 1965-1980, and then worked for Horizon Designs until retiring in 1988. She continued to do seamstress work in her home until the time of her death. She was baptized in the Methodist Church and was a member of the Kearney VFW Auxiliary. Survivors include her husband, Kearney; daughter, Gayleen Wick, Kearney, Denise Wick, Elm Creek, and Becky Blattner, Columbus; son Ron, Kearney; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother Gerald Fester, Greeley, Colo.; and sisters, Frances McArthur, Boise, Idaho, and Mary Ann Fisher, Kearney. She was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
