Dr. Dalby was born April 28, 1916 in Ragan, NE to John and Clara(Black) Elliot. She graduated from Ragan High School in 1933. She was a graduate of the University of Nebraska Lincoln and a former Dean of History at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY. In 1939 she married Vernon Dalby, son of Claude and Nellie Dalby of Arcadia. He passed away in 1947. After her retirement she returned to Lincoln, NE where she lived until entering Rose Lane Nursing Home in Loup City, NE this past year. She received her PHD in History from Radcliffe College in New York in 1954. She has written three books. The first is entitled "Leon Blum: Evolution of a Socialist". The second "The Great War and Women's Liberation" a book about the contribution of the English and French women in World War I. The third is entitled "An Irrepressible Crew: The Smith College Relief Unit" a book about the Red Cross workers of World War I from America.
