Apr. 2, 1904 of valvular insufficiency ( a cardiac disease characterized by the failure of the cardiac valves to close perfectly, resulting in blood flowing in the opposite direction; thereby, causing regurgitation or leakage.) in Los Angeles county, CA. Edwin and Mary Jennings' children were: Helen Lucille "Nellie/Nell" Jennings, b. Sep. 29, 1881 in Sterling, Whiteside county, and d. Sep. 4, 1955 in Claremont, Los Angeles county, CA. Cecile Jennings , b. May 12, 1892 in AZ. and d. Oct. 19, 1974 in Los Angeles county, CA. Cecile marr. Ernest H. Nichols. According to the 1900 U. S. census, there was a third child, who was probably born after Nellie and before Cecile, who died before 1900. In 1897, Nellie came to Los Angeles, CA. (according to her obituary). In the 1900 U. Jan. 1858 in IL. 42 yr. old mother, Mary S Jennings, b. Mar. 1858 in NY. 8 yr. old sister, Cecil Jennings, b. May 1892 in AZ. Edwin and Mary had been married for 20 years. Mary was the mother of 3 children, only two still alive by this census. Edwin's father was b. in NY. and his mother in OH. Mary's parents were both b. in NY. Jennings, which occurred Tuesday evening, at the home of the bride's parents, No. 1415 Newton street. The ceremony was performed by Dr. Henck, pastor of the Bethel Baptist Church. Mr. and Mrs. Hazard will reside on East Eighth street. A large company of guests witnessed the ceremony, and the bride received many beautiful gifts. A supper was served. He was described as medium in height and build, with brown eyes and brown hair, partially bald. In the 1920 U.S. census, 38 yr. old Nellie S. Henderson, b. in IL., was living on a farm in Etiwanda, San Bernardino, CA. with her 42 yr. old husband, Robert R. Henderson, a miner doing tunnel work, b. in CA. 16 yr. old son by a previous marriage, Clarence L 'Hoogard' (Hazard), a laborer on a fruit farm, b. in CA. 13 yr. old daughter, Roberta N Henderson, b. in CA. 11 yr. old son, Herbert J Henderson, b. in CA. 6 yr. old daughter, Margaret C Henderson, b. in CA. 4 yr. old daughter, Mildred A Henderson, b. in CA. 3 yr. old daughter, Marian E. In the 1930 U.S. census, 48 yr. old Nellie Henderson, a grader at a citrus packing house, b. in IL., was living on Summit Ave. in Etiwanda, San Bernardino, CA. with her 52 yr. old husband, Robert Henderson, a miner for the water department, b. in CA. 17 yr. old daughter, Margaret Henderson, b. in CA. 14 yr. old daughter, Mildred Henderson, b. in CA. 14 yr. old daughter, Marian Henderson, b. in CA. 7 yr. old son, Byron Henderson, b. in CA. Robert's father was b. in Scotland and his mother in Australia. Nellie's parents were b. in IL. Robert was 27 years old and Nellie was 23 at the time of their first marriage. According to family lore, Robert 'Bob' Roy Henderson and Nellie Jennings Steadman Henderson's 23 daughter, "Dolly" (that must have been the nickname for his daughter, Roberta), died of a tubal pregnancy on Aug. 14, 1929 (the newspaper listed her death as septicemia poisoning which developed from a sore throat). Bob died almost 9 yrs. later, on May 2, 1938, of a gunshot wound. No one was there when it happened, but people speculated that either it was self-inflicted, or as the result of his gun falling through a hole in the floorboards of his vehicle, causing the weapon to discharge. Henderson returned from Flint, Mich., Saturday after a two-weeks' trip, going with a party of seven who went to bring new cars home. Mrs. Henderson made the trip to bring back a car for her daughter, Miss Marian, who teaches in the Chino grammar schools. Henderson was given a pleasant surprise on her birthday Friday. Mrs. Henderson returned home with her sister, Mrs. Nichols, on Saturday morning for a weekend visit. By the 1940 U.S. census, Robert had died, and 58 yr. old Nellie S. Henderson, b. in IL., was worker as a fruit packer in a packing house and living on Etiwanda Av. in Etiwanda, San Bernardino, CA., with her 17 yr. old son, Byron S. Henderson, b. in CA. Nellie had completed 8th grade and Byron had finished 3 years of high school. Byron was working as a laborer during his vacation from school. Nellie worked 24 hrs. in the week prior to the census and 24 wks. in 1939. Her income was listed as $412 and she had income from other sources. Byron worked 8 weeks in 1939 for a salary of $55. Henderson of Etiwanda and Bert Webster of San Bernardino were married Thursday, Sept. 17, in Las Vegas, Nev., the Rev. Mr. Milton of the Las Vegas Congregational church officiating. They will reside in the home of the bride on upper Etiwanda avenue. Webster of 132 Acacia St., Yucaipa, passed away at Oak Grove Sanitarium in Claremont at 8:50 a.m. Sunday. She had been ill since last December. Mrs. Webster was born Sept. 29, 1881 in Sterling, Ill. She came to California 58 years ago. In 1910 she made her home in Etiwanda, where she resided until 1945 when she moved to Yucaipa. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge, the Grange, and the Yucaipa Women's Club. She is survived by her husband, Bert C. Webster of Yucaipa; three sons, Clarence L. Hazard of Long Beach, Herbert J. Henderson of Upland, and Byron R. Henderson of Ontario; three daughters, Mrs. Margaret Rehm of San Dimas, Mrs. Mildred Garman of La Verne, and Mrs. Marian Chappell of Ontario; a sister, Mrs. Cecile Nichols of Glendale; and 14 grandchildren. Webster of 132 Acacia St., Yucaipa, passed away in Oak Grove Sanitarium, Claremont, at 8:50 a.m. Sunday after two weeks of illness. She had been in failing health for some time. She was born Sept. 29, 1881, in Sterling, Ill., and in 1897 came with the family to Los Angeles, where she lived for many years. In 1901 she was married to Clarence Hazard, and one son was born to this union. After the death of her husband, she was married to Robert Roy Henderson, a native of this valley, in 1904. Two sons and four daughters were born to this marriage. Etiwanda was the family home for 30 years. Mr. Henderson passed away in 1938. In 1942, she was married to Bert Webster of Yucaipa, and they have resided in that community since then. Mrs. Webster was a member of the Rebekah Lodge, the Grange, and the Yucaipa Women's Club. Besides her husband, she is survived by three sons, Clarence L. Hazard of Long Beach, Herbert J. Henderson of Upland, and Byron R. Henderson of Ontario; three daughters, Mrs. Margaret Rehm of San Dimas, Mrs. Mildred Garman of La Verne, and Mrs. Marian Chappell of Ontario; and a sister, Mrs. Cecile Nichols of Glendale. Survivors include the widower, Bert C.; three sons, Clarence L. Hazard of Los Angeles, Herbert J. Henderson of Upland and Byron R. Henderson of Ontario; three daughters, Mrs. Margaret Rehm of San Dimas, Mrs. Mildred Garman of LaVerne and Mrs. Marian Chappel of Ontario; a sister, Mrs. Cecile Nichols of Glendale; and 14 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in Stephens & Bobbitt Chapel. Interment will be in Mountain View Cemetery.
