Mary Jane (Hargrove) Hartgrove Sources: TEXAS DEATH CERTIFICATE (Ellen Whitlow, daughter was the Texas Death Certificate Informant) Funeral Services by Hewett Funeral Home, Friday 2:00 p.m., May 10,1974, by Reverend Allen Goss. Obituary : MRS. HARTGROVE - Funeral for Mrs Mary Jane Hartgrove , 81, of 1321 S. 17th St., will be at 2:00 P.M. Friday at Hewett Funeral Home, The Rev. Allen Goss officiating. Burial will be in Bellwood Memorial Park. Mrs. Hartgrove died Tuesday in a Temple nursing home. She was born in Tennessee and came to Texas in 1904. She lived in Bell County most of her life. She married E. H. (Eugene Hawkins) Hartgrove in 1912. He died in 1961 (Sept 7, 1961). She was a member of the First Methodist Church. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Ellen Whitlow of Durango (Texas), Mrs. Ruby Mullen of Houston, Mrs. Cathryn Watts of Irving (Texas) and Mrs. Bonnie Kuckenbaker of Laton, California; two sons, Albert Hartgrove of Pasadena, MD., and Winston Hartgrove of Houston; three sisters, Mrs. Mamie Blackburn, Mrs. Agnes Wilkerson and Mrs. Vera Jackson, all of Temple; Two brothers, Ira Lee Hargrove and Belton Hargrove, both of Temple; twelve grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be grandsons. Pallbearers were James E. "J.E." Whitlow, Ed Whitlow, Kenneth Wayne "Ken"Hartgrove, Ronald Winston "Ron" Hartgrove, Donald Stephen "Steve" Hartgrove, George Kukenbaker. Mary Jane (Hargrove) Hartgrove was born 8 Nov 1892 in Elkton, Tennessee to Louis Artentious "Tin" Austin Hargrove and Hettie Rosanna Wallace Hargrove. This family moved to Texas in the early 1900's.
