Bio

Edward Duane Hardin, 84, of Amarillo died Saturday, April 24, 2010. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Memorial Park East Mausoleum Chapel with the Rev. Gary Burd of Christian Heritage Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Edward Duane was born Dec. 26, 1925, in Kirkland to Claude and Bertha Hardin. He graduated from Amarillo High School. Mr. Hardin was a World War II veteran. He was inducted into the U.S. Army Aircorp in February 1944 and served until November 1945. As a waist gunner on a B-17 bomber with the 15th Air Force 463rd Bomb Group stationed in Fogia, Italy, he flew 29 combat missions in the European Theater of Operations. He married the love of his life, Dwilla, in 1962 in Amarillo. He loved fishing and art painting and enjoyed football. His God, his church and his family were very important to him. He met with a senior group weekly at Whataburger for coffee and fellowship. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 54. He treasured his beloved dog, Rascal. He was a wonderful husband, father and granddad. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents; his oldest infant son; and a brother, Bob Hardin. Survivors include his wife, Dwilla M. Hardin; two sons, Rodger D. Hardin of Amarillo and Timothy S. Hardin and wife Carri of Claude; six grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
