Not certain buried in this cemetery. ==== Isaac Grizzle was born in Virginia in 1814 according to Federal Census of Jackson County, Alabama for 1850-60-70-80. A number of good researchers have been unable to document his parents as far as I know. Mary Ford Southworth, a researcher of note, says that Isaac is a brother of her ancestor, Iphey Grizzle who married Charles Ford, and I believe this to be true. Iphey was born in Buckingham County, Virginia 19 August 1810. Charles Ford was also from Buckingham County. It seems that before 1820 a group migrated from Buckingham County, Virginia to Knox County, Tennessee. Among them were the Elisha Ford family and some of the Grizzle family. I feel that Iphey, Isaac and their younger brother, John, were orphans or possibly had a mother living at the time. I found marriage records in Knox County for Juda Grizzle and James Jones dated 11 April 1820 and for Harry (Henry) Grizzle and Susan Jones dated 25 December 1821. On 13 June 1825 there is a record of marriage between Iphey Grizzle and Charles Ford with James Jones as witness. I would like to add Juda and Harry (Henry) as siblings of Isaac and Iphey but they could be related otherwise. Before 1828 Charles and Iphey Grizzle Ford moved to Alabama where the first of their 14 children was born. Evidently they settled at Cotton Cove and Isaac and John Grizzle the younger brothers of Iphey had come with them to Jackson County. They evidently were neighbors of Toliver and Frances Stephens Adams who were one of the first families to settle in Cotton Cove. Toliver purchased land and built a home but died in 1833. His death left Frances a widow with six young children to raise. Isaac Grizzle, 22 and Frances Stephens Adams, 36, married about 1836 and continued to live on the Adam's homestead. Frances was the sister of William Stephens and it is thought that she was a 1/2 sister to Sutton Stephens who owned the Sutton Stephens Reservation which was a part of Cotton Cove. Her parents were Josiah Stephens Sr. and Nancy Vann Stephens. Isaac had taken on a real responsibility when he married Frances, her children were 14, 12, 1o, 8, 6 and 4. They started their own family right away and their first child was Isaac McDonald Grizzle born in 1837, Celia Frances was born 28 November 1838 and A. J. was born in 1844. The 1840 roll of Union Primitive Baptist Church at Woodville lists the names of: Isaac and Frances Grizzle, Charles and Iphey Ford and John Grizzle. This probably was just before John was married to Mary Moonyham. John Grizzle and Mary Mooneyham had children: Jane born 1842, Sarah E. born 1844, Isaac Henry born 1846 and William born 1849. John died before 1860 leaving Mary with the four young children to raise. Mary's mother, Hannah Mooneyham lived with Mary and her family. Before the Civil War, school was taught in a log house which stood near the home of the Kennamers. Isaac McDonald Grizzle, son of Isaac and Frances Grizzle, known as Mack was one of the school teachers. Celia Frances the daughter of Isaac and Frances married Edward James Maples on 1 Jan 1856 and later moved to Texas. A. J. youngest son of Isaac and Frances Grizzle died in service of Confederate 14 September 1862. As far as I know the parents of Isaac Grizzle have not been identified. The 1850-60-70 and 80 Federal Census of Jackson County, Alabama reveales that Isaac was born in Virginia in 1814. I have searched Virginia for the missing link to no avail. Mary Southworth, another researcher of the Grizzle line has identified Isaac as a brother to her ancestor, Ipha Grizzle Ford who was born in Buckingham County Virginia 19 August 1810 but she gives no parents. I found a marriage license for Ifa/Ipha Grizzle and Charles Ford in Knox County Tennessee dated 13 June 1825. Also there are marriage records for a Henry/Harry Grizzle who married....
