Bio
Dates were believed to be: b. 13 Aug 1835, Kentucky d. 19 Dec 1911, Delta County, Texas Original transcription of stone was12 April 1917. On close inspection of the marker 3 July 2011, death date is clearly inscribed: 12 April 1911. Married to William G Rush (1839 - 1870) on 20 May 1860 in Jackson County, Alabama. Mr. Rush perished in 1870 shortly after the Civil War. Daughter Mary Jane Rush was born in 1861 in Alabama, and died 22 July 1929 (age 68) in Delta County, Texas. Melvina Wilson Rush remarried to Isaac Grizzle on 15 July 1872 in Jackson County, Alabama. By him, she had two sons: William Franklin Grizzle (b. 14 Apr 1873) John Henry Grizzle (b. 20 Oct 1876) Melvina followed these sons from Alabama to Texas, where they settled in NE Texas around Delta County. Melvina is buried in the John Henry Grizzle family plot in Oaklawn Cemetery, in the plot immediately south of and adjacent to her son, John Henry Grizzle.
