John Kostohryz Dies; Funeral Held Thursday John Frank Kostohryz, age 87, died at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday, January 18, at his home in West. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the United Brethren Church in West, Rev. F.J. Kostohryz, Rev. John J. Bravenec and Rev. Hal Potts officiated. Burial was in C.M.B. Cemetery. Mr. Kostohryz was born January 1, 1874 in Pisek, Czechoslovakia. He came to America when he was 17, first going to Caldwell, Texas. He came to West some 59 years ago. Mr. Kostohryz was a farmer. He was active in civic work, especially on the school board where he served many years, in the country and on the West school board. He was a member of the Board of Elders of the C.M.B. Church. Survivors are his wife, Anna Kostohryz; two sons, John Kostohryz of West, and Hynek Kostohryz of Abbott; four daughters, Mrs. Libbie Plasek of West, Mrs. Olga Hurto of Bellville, Mrs. Essie Brown and Mrs. Bessie Parris of San Antonio; one brother, Charlie Kostohryz of California; one sister, Mrs. Anna Hlavaty of Kerrville; sixteen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were his grandsons; Leroy Hurta of Bellville, Doyle Brown, and Marvin Parris of San Antonio, George Kostohryz of Fort Worth, Teddy Kostohryz of Abbott and Emil Plasek, Jr. of West. Honorary Pallbearers were: Mr. Emil Popp, Mr. Rud. Barton, Mr. Joe Svacek, Mr. Emmett Barton, Mr. Emmett Plasek, and Mr. Joe Gerik, Mr. Joe Fojt, Sr., Mr. Joe Tobola, Mr. Joe Barton, and Mr. Ed Janek.
