Portia Carol Hawk passed away peacefully in her sleep April 11, 2010 surrounded by her loving family. Her husband, William(Billy) Allen Hawk, daughter Jennifer Rebecca Brown, son Austin Allen Hawk, son-in-law David Allan Brown and grandchildren Christopher Tyler Hawk, William Blake Hawk, and Darian Averi Brown were at her side through her long and hard fought battle with cancer and at the end when she finally succumbed. Through her illness, Portia remained optimistic and hopeful, displaying the courage and fortitude of a wife, mother, and grandmother. A proud grandmother of seven, Portia showered her grandchildren with the love and kindness only a grandmother knows. As her time grew short, she spent it with her family. She loved to share her free spirit and her unconditional love for family and friends and her love for all things living was heartwarming and comforting. She was admired by all who knew her.Portia's deep faith in God comforted her and her family in her final days. She continued to pray for others and continued to care for those around her. With a quick wit and keen sense of humor, Portia kept an air of lightness and fun around her.She loved astrology, movies, movie stars and Mick Jagger. She loved music and danced around all of her life, eliciting from others a carefree existence; to dance as though no one is looking. She wouldn't have cared anyway. Portia was a loving sister to Faye Fregia of Austin, Texas and Bobby Fregia of Klondike, Texas. Her baby sister, Lana Robin Fregia, preceded her in death. Portia loved all of her siblings and always went out of her way to make them feel special and appreciated. Portia loved her husband Billy very deeply. Their thirty nine year marriage was rooted in Lewisville, Texas, where they both forged many long-lasting friendships. Jennifer and Austin were Portia's pride and joy. She loved to brag on them and she loved to love them. They were her happiness. They will miss their mother terribly, but they have both known their mother's love. Portia will rejoice upon joining her father Robert Fregia and mother Jean Fregia and her little sister Robin in heaven. Our peace comes in this knowledge; that part of our family is meeting again; that they will look over us and protect and guide us; that we all loved one another and look forward to the day that we join them. Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 13, 2010 from 6-8 p.m. at DeBerry Funeral Directors. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at 1 p.m. at the DeBerry Funeral Directors Chapel. Burial will follow at Little Elm Cemetery.
