Mary Edgin EDGIN Mary Edgin passed away Friday, January 2, 2004 at First Community Village. She was born in Ada, Oklahoma on September 2, 1922 and graduated from Ada High School in 1940. She attended Oklahoma City University where she played on the tennis team and was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. She earned a Master of Education from Baylor University in 1970. Mary taught school for 15 years. She later moved to Austin, Texas, where she became a disability counselor for the Texas Rehabilitation Commission, from which she retired in 1981. Mary was a member of many professional organizations. She loved participating in many activities in the Methodist church and she was an avid golfer. She is survived by two sons, Robert Gerald Edgin (Sandy) of Horatio, Arkansas and Dr. Richard Alan Edgin (Bobbi) of Columbus, Ohio; and one daughter, Nancy Smith (Phil) of Corsicana, Texas. She has six grandchildren: Dr. Chris Smith, Stuart Smith, Andrew Edgin, David Edgin, Jen Edgin and Matt Edgin. She dedicated her life to her church, teaching and counseling, friends, and family. She felt her greatest achievement was the education of her three children. Mary will be missed by all whose lives she touched. In lieu of flowers, memorials can by made to the Alzheimer's Association at 225 N. Michigan Avenue, Suite 1700, Chicago, Illinois 60601-7633. A memorial service will be held for immediate family.
