Bio

Sophia Jane Mitchell was the daughter of William and Mary Magdalene LeMay Mitchell. She married Benjamin M. Hale July 24, 1845 in Virginia. Children born to this union were: Sarah M. b. 1846, William Lewis b. 1847, Mary Ann b. 1849, Granville Ambrose b. 1851, Elbert L. b. 1853, Margaret Z. b. 1855, Henry Mitchell b. 1858, Edward E. b. 1860, Robert R. b. 1862, Thomas LeMay b. 1866. Benjamin Hale was the son of Lewis and Celia White Hale, grandson of Richard and Elizabeth Stone Hale, great grandson of Lewis and Mary Burwell Hale of Elk Creek, Grayson Co., Virginia. With the help of The Sons of the Confederate and descendants of Benjamin and Sophia Hale, Bonnie Feldhausen and I were able to get stones erected for them.
