Bio

Abraham is buried beside his wife Margaret, who died on February 14, 1850. Note that his headstone was inscribed at a later date and with the wrong year. His obituary confirms that he did die in 1861. The Shockey Genealogy Committee has done a thorough investigation of the documents for Abraham and recommends removing "Johann" from Abraham's name. The name is likely a result of confusion with his Uncle John. Abraham never uses any other name in dozens of documents, land deeds, tax records, etc. Also, we can only confirm that he was born in Pennsylvania. It's possible that he was born in York County where his father was residing, but only the state can be verified. Likwise, he most probably died in Washington County, Ohio; but Stanleyville is the name of the cemetery where he is buried, not necessarily where he died.
