Bio

Jack Whittington, age 69, of Kermit, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 2, 2004 at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa. He was born March 5, 1935 in Idabel, OK to the late Floy Parker and Marvin Whittington. Jack was a retired Drilling Consultant and had worked in the oilfield all his life. He had been a resident of Kermit for 40 years, having moved here from Lovington, NM in 1964. He married Wanda L. Jones April 10, 1974 in Lovington, NM. In just a few short days, they would have celebrated their 30-year anniversary. Being born in Oklahoma, Jack was a quiet country boy. He was a man of few words, but his words carried a long way. He loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, fishing, hunting and gardening. Jack is survived by his wife: Wanda Whittington of Kermit; (1) One son, Cliff Whittington and wife Nan of Roswell, NM; (4) Four daughters: Jacque Caudle and husband Carl of Jal, NM; Janice Franco of Lockhart, TX; Tricia Birkla and husband Shane of Odessa; and Kassie Whittington of Kermit. He is also survived by (4) Four brothers: Kennon, George, and Charlie Whittington, and Tim Parker, all of Idabel, OK; (1) One sister: Sue Whittington of Poteau, OK. He was the proud grandfather of (9) Nine grandchildren: Kristi, Stephanie, Corey, Danial, Alanna, Cody, Frankie, Ashley, and Kiara; (3) Three great-grandchildren; Venessa, Darren, and Alyssa. His Parents, his Stepfather, Harvey Parker; One son, Choia Gene Whittington, and one grandson, Jason Whittington, preceded him in death. Graveside services are scheduled for 11:00 am, Tuesday, April 6, 2004 at Kermit Cemetery with Brother Allen Speed officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack's four brothers: Kennon Whittington, George Whittington, Charlie Whittington, and Tim Parker. The family requests that memorials be made to The American Heart and Lung Association
